Biography

Thorsten Skringer graduated from the “Neue Jazz Schule München” in 1995 and since then has been a well-established figure in the German soul/pop/jazz scene. As a founding member of the band “Soulkitchen”, he performed throughout Europe, Russia and China and continued to influence bands such as the “Earforce Bigband” and the ensemble “Der 5te Mann” with its “Big Sound”. In 2003 Thorsten Skringer won the Yamaha Europe Saxcontest and started his solo career with the release of the two records “Skringer & Friends live in der Badeanstalt München” and “Skringer, Over the line”. Since the beginning of 2009, Thorsten Skringer has been a permanent member of the TV Total show band “Heavytones”, which also regularly gives live concerts outside the TV Total show and will increasingly give live concerts, especially after the end of the TV Total show. Altogether he played almost 1000 Tv Total shows and castings with the Heavytones. In the course of the show Tv Total Thorsten Skringer played together with the Heavytones with acts like: Till Brönner, Lionel Ritchie, Joss Stone, Jamie Cullom, Herbert Grönemeyer, Xavier Naidoo, Charlie Winston, Aloe Blac, Peter Kraus, Stephanie Heinzmann, Paul Carrack, Max Mutzke, Gregor Meyle, Lena M-L, Roman Lob, Helene Fischer, David Garrett, Xavier de Maistre, Tony Christie, Jonathan Jeremiah, Tim Bendzko, Joy Denalane, Natasha Bedingfield, Patrice, Raphael Saadiq, Bootsy Collins, Johannes Oerding, Helge Schneider, Pohlmann, Asa, Rox, Christian Durstewitz, Culcha Candela, Bela B, Howard Carpendale, Laith Al Deen, Steve Appelton, Roger Cicero, and many more. Thorsten Skringer has also been active as a teacher for over 20 years and has taught at the P.M.I.O in Regensburg, the Papagena Music School in Straubing and the New Jazz School in Munich. As a sought-after lecturer, Skringer has travelled all over Europe and held workshops at universities, music stores, music houses and music associations. Countless CD productions and film music recordings capture Thorsten Skringer’s big sound.
