Alexander studied music at New York’s City College and at the University of Music in Munich. Besides working with his own groups, he also performs with a great variety of top-notch ensembles, ranging from contemporary jazz to major symphony orchestras. He is at home in various musical styles, performing at jazz festivals and clubs, new music festivals, and in classical concert halls. He recorded three CDs as a leader: the jazz album “Loreley” (enja), the oddmeter-fusion album “Fusion Nouvelle” (esc) and the chamber music-crossover CD “Passo Avanti-Delikatessen” (GLM). All of his albums were highly critically acclaimed by the national and international press. Besides many other sideman appearances, Alexander is also featured on three CDs and one live DVD of the internationally known jazz&metal-fusion band Panzerballett. He has performed in many countries of Europe, Asia, and the U.S. and gave workshops all over Germany and Austria. In 2011, he received the Bavarian Culture State Award. He also was a member of the German National Merit Foundation. The Munich based musician von Hagke is at home in various musical styles. He tours the world with high-calibre jazz ensembles (e.g. Panzerballett), performs New Music at renowned festivals and plays occasionally in world class symphony orchestras (e.g.Munich Radio or Munich Philharmonic Orchestra), under his own name, Alexander released “Fusion Nouvelle” (2012/esc records) and “Loreley” (2011/enja). Especially as a member of the fastand-furious heavy-metal jazz band Panzerballett, Alexander has become known to an international fan base. Alexander von Hagke plays F. Arthur Uebel clarinets, P. Mauriat saxophones, and Vandoren reeds exclusively.
